Spending Time With Jesus

SPENDING TIME WITH JESUS!
How do You Spend Time With Those You Love?
A few weeks ago, in the church I attend, I taught a lesson to all the women and asked them the question, “how do you spend time with those you love?” I received lots of great answers from communicating daily, to eating yummy food together, and playing games. The women lit up as they talked about all the things they did to spend time with their loved ones. Then I asked them, “when is the last time you spent some of that same quality time with the Savior?” Although the quality time might look a little different, the benefits of that quality time are the same. Just like you would schedule time in for your earthly relationships, we must do the same thing with Jesus. I’m not going to lie to you, when I was preparing this lesson, I felt a sense of guilt because I feel like although I am good at scheduling + prioritizing time for my loved ones, I feel like I haven’t been the best at scheduling in that same time for Jesus. I was able to reflect on my own life and see the times where I have said to myself, “I need to do my scripture study” or “I need to say my prayers and I have to go to church.” Those are good things but what if I changed the ‘needs’ and ‘haves’ to “I WANT to spend time with The Savior.”? What difference would that make in my life?
Any Time is Good Time
There have been times in my life where the time I spent with Jesus looked a very specific way. It was scheduled and I had a strict routine. Now, as a mom to three littles, it does not look like that at all. For a long time I held onto how my time with Jesus used to look. I beat myself up almost every day when I couldn’t make it look like that again. After accepting the fact that my life is different now, I was able to make my time with Jesus still precious and much more doable. Let me tell you, after adjusting this time, I can honestly say that I know Jesus will take ANY time with us. He truly does not care what that time looks like just as long as it is SOME time. It can be waking up super early to spend time with Him alone or it can be talking to Him in your car as you drive to work. It can look like scripture study before you go to bed or worshiping Him through music throughout the day. It can look like two hours or five minutes. It can look three chapters or a couple versus. ALL are acceptable to Him. Isn’t that amazing? Jesus isn’t the type of friend that only puts in what you put in. Only invites if you invite. He isn’t the type of friend that gets offended and shuts you off when you forget about Him from time to time. No. He is always there, always waiting, and always loves the effort we put into spending time with Him.
Schedule Your Time
This week I want to invite you to find time for Him. As you would schedule an important meeting or a date with someone you care about, schedule that quality one-on-one time with Jesus this week. Spend time with Him and I promise you will start to see the blessings in your life. He knows you. He knows where you are and He will take you as you are, where you are!
YOU GOT THIS!
XOXO
